Privacy Policy

Overview

5KWPH is a privacy-first writing sprint timer that stores all your data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal information.

Data We Store Locally

Writing Data

• Sprint sessions: Word counts, timestamps, duration, and optional notes you write
• Projects: Project names, target word counts, and deadlines you set
• Statistics: Calculated metrics like writing speed and streaks
• Achievements: Badge unlock dates and milestones

All this data is stored on your device using Core Data and is never transmitted to our servers (we don't have servers).

Device Identifiers

The app generates a random identifier for each device to distinguish between sessions created on different devices. This identifier:

• Is NOT your device's unique ID or any Apple identifier
• Is NOT linked to you personally
• Is used only for app functionality
• Never leaves your device

App Preferences

Standard app settings like notification preferences, sound settings, and subscription status are stored locally in UserDefaults.

Notifications

We request notification permission to send you:

• Sprint completion alerts
• Writing reminders (if enabled)
• Badge unlock celebrations
• Streak saver reminders (if enabled)

All notifications are generated locally on your device. We don't send push notifications from a server.

In-App Purchases

We use Apple's StoreKit to process subscriptions:

• Your payment information goes directly to Apple, not us
• We only receive confirmation that you're a subscriber
• Subscription status is cached locally on your device

Data We Don't Collect

• No analytics or tracking
• No advertising identifiers
• No location data
• No contact information
• No data shared with third parties
• No crash reports or diagnostics (unless you share via iOS)

Your Rights

Since all data is stored on your device:

• Access: Export your data as CSV from Profile > Export
• Delete: Delete the app to remove all data, or clear individual sessions
• Portability: Export your writing data anytime

Children's Privacy

5KWPH does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We'll update this policy if our privacy practices change. Continued use of the app after updates constitutes acceptance.
